The Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four are a Marvel Comics superhero group. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, they first appeared in The Fantastic Four #1 (1961).
Timely publisher Martin Goodman got the idea to create a superhero team from rival publisher Jack Liebowitz of DC Comics after the releasing of Justice League of America. Goodman then gave the order to writer Stan Lee. Lee who worked with artist Jack Kirby wanted to avoid a similar plot like that of DC Comics Justice League of America. Lee and Jack Kirby produced a pioneering book featuring a family of super-heroes who were not perfect, very fallible, and more human than anything previously seen in comics. This led to the birth of the F4. The Fantastic-four appeared on the cover without any costumes and without a mask to cover their identities. I must add that prior to the birth of F4, Marvel Comics was going down hill. Due to the success of the Fantastic four, Lee and Kirby stayed together and launched other successful titles that allowed Marvel Universe to grow. The most recognized version of how the four acquired their superhuman abilities is - after an experimental rocket designed by the scientist Reed Richards passed through a storm of cosmic rays on its test flight. Upon crash landing back on Earth, the four occupants of the craft found themselves transformed and possessing abilities they never had before.
Powers/Abilities Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards), the leader of the group, a scientist who can stretch his body. The Invisible Woman (Susan Richards, n้e Storm; originally the Invisible Girl), his wife, who can become invisible at will and create transparent force fields. The Human Torch (Johnny Storm), Invisible womans brother, who can surround himself in flames, throw flames, and fly. The Thing (Ben Grimm), their grumpy friend, who possesses superior strength and whose body is made of craggy orange rock. Also near-invulnerable. Popularity Factor Since their introduction, the group has been portrayed as a dysfunctional superhero family of some sort. They argue and even have small fights with one another. Yet in it all the members truly love and care for each other. The fantastic four were like a realistic family who happened to be superheroes. Those who like the Fantastic-four liked the idea of unmasked heroes and heroes that seemed like the next door neighbor. This is exactly what Stan Lee wanted, he wanted F4 to appeal to the common person with the common family. Achievement The fantastic four launched the revival of Marvel Comics in the early 1960s, giving them an essential place in the history of American comic books. They have also been adapted into other media.
