Find a niche when creating comics

This example also applies in creating comics. In any business you can think of, whether it is real estate, Entertainment, Internet, Insurance, and so on, it is very important to know what your niche is.

WHAT IS A NICHE?

A niche can be defined as; your available market, the targeted audience, people who you are providing business for, the people whose problem you are solving or those whose needs you are meeting. Distinguishing the category or genre your comic book would be classified is also related to finding your niche.

Although this process does not look significant, one would be surprised how helpful something as little as this would be. Identifying your niche helps anyone interested in creating comics have an aim, mark or target to follow.

KNOW WHO YOUR AUDIENCE WOULD BE

Anyone aspiring in creating comics must know whom his or her audience is going to be. When someone has a target, that person now has a focus and direction. For example, if I want to create a comic book, I must find out what kind of genre I want it to be, whether it is going to be adventurous, action, Romance etc.

Now my next goal would be to find a possible niche in the genre and whether the niche has an audience. Doing this would reduce and may even eliminate any unprofitable efforts. Taking the time to find and research your niche would save you a lot of possible waste of time in the future.

Once that I have identified my genre: niche and the audience, I could now know if my niche is present and gainful or maybe non-existent and unprofitable. If I find out that my niche is non-existing and also has no audience it is best for me to dump it and begin researching other possible niches of my interest. Doing this increases one’s productivity in creating comics. I would now clarify just in case some people got lost.

TWO KINDS OF NON-EXISTING NICHES

There are two kinds of non existing niches in any type of business. There is the non-existent niche with no significant audience to make the niche even considerable for business and there is the non-existent niche with a very reasonable audience that makes the niche very considerable.

This means that if you as a comic book creator conceive a non-existent niche, let’s say like a skateboarding comic book that you are interesting in creating, it is your duty to find out whether there are people interested in reading this kind of comic book.

You do some more research to find out the possible audience in your skateboarding comic book niche. If there is a large amount of people interested in a skateboarding comic book you have an almost guaranteed audience once you create your skateboard comic book.

However, if there are a few people to almost none who are interested or looking for a skateboarding comic book, it is best you disregard that niche and look into another. Like I mentioned before, this might seem like a waste of time but I assure you that it would be a plus to you in the future and possibly save you from a serious waste of time by creating something that no one cares for.

See, sometimes we think just because we like something or because something appears popular, that others would also like it. Unfortunately this is not always true or accurate thinking. It is best not to create something based on speculation without doing legitimate research. Even when creating comics it is very important to do research on your idea and to be specific in the finding of your niche to see whether there is room for your idea.

FINDING A NICHE

You must know who your audience is and have a clear path when dealing with creating comics. As I stressed before, this is important for any business. The secret in finding a niche in the comic industry is to think of something that would make your comics stand out from any other comic book.

There has to be a difference in your comic book than any other comic book, and people must be able to see it. Something about your comic book has to appeal to your audience. Your committed audience must be able to say I like this comic because of the pictures, its reality, because it’s all about skateboarders’ lives, so and so.

Before creating comics of any type, ask your self what is going to be my niche? In other words when creating comics put into account whom you are creating it for, what need you are trying to meet and if there is an audience in your niche or anyone who is interested in what comic book idea you’re creating.
